Forest City, N.C.----Wingate University junior left-hander
Chris Nelson (Greenville, N.C.) has been named to the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament team, league officials announced Monday.
In Wingate’s tough 4-0 elimination loss to Mars Hill, Nelson allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings of work. He struck out four and walked four.
Nelson is 4-1 overall on the season with a 4.12 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings of work. His ERA ranks in the SAC top 10, while his .212 opponents’ batting average leads the league.
The Bulldogs finished the 2010 season 29-19 overall and 19-5 in the SAC. Wingate won its first regular season title since 2000, while the 19 conference regular season victories are the second most in the team’s NCAA history (1990-present). The Bulldogs were the number one seed in the 2010 Food Lion SAC tournament.

Wingate’s 43 Academic All-America® honorees (lifetime) is tops among all SAC schools.
