Biography
2011-12: Elly Speer has nine All-Conference swims during her career. She has scored points at the NCAA meet and earned three honorable mention All-American swims. Speer and senior teammate Paige Schmidt have helped the Bulldogs earn two second place Bluegrass Mountain Conference finishes. In addition, Wingate has one third-place team performance during Speer's career.
2010-11: Speer was an All-Bluegrass Mountain Conference selection in the 500 Freestyle and the 200 Butterfly. Speer currently holds the team’s fastest time in the 500 Freestyle and the 200 Butterfly. She has the team’s third-fastest time in the 200 Freestyle. In relay events, she is part of the team who holds the second and third-fastest times in the 800 Freestyle relay.
2009-10: As a true freshman, Speer swam an excellent conference meet by taking third in her 500 Freestyle race. She placed fifth in her 200 Butterfly and 14th in her 200 Freestyle event. Speer was All-BMC in the 200 Fly, the 500 Free and the 800 Free Relay.
Personal: Elly Speer attended Loreto Kirribilli, where she was the team captain her junior year. She received the 2008 Principal’s Award for excellence in swimming, after a successful senior season. Elly is the daughter of Louise O’Brien and David Speer.
