Wingate, N.C.----These past three years as a member of the Wingate University Cheerleading team, I have been able to take part in many different great activities. From Wingate’s first NCAA football play-off game, volunteer work, fundraisers…to college football and basketball games…these past three seasons have been very eventful!

On the Friday before the Super Bowl, Liz Hardig, Lacey Maners and I visited Carillion Assisted Living for the annual pre-Super Bowl party. We were joined by Bulldog football players Josh Covington, Micah Newman and Connor O’Modhrain. I have visited Carillion Assisted Living for the pre-Super Bowl party two years in a row. We always have fun!

From the minute I stepped into the room, I knew that my time spent there would be something to remember. After hearing the residents cheer along with us, we were able to go around and mingle with each one. From Bingo stories to hearing interesting facts about each individual…meeting each resident was beyond amazing! We look forward to going back for Easter and seeing all of the residents again!

I have many great Wingate memories…I look forward to many more during my last three semesters. Last year when the football team made the NCAA play-offs…it was a huge deal! The whole school showed its school spirit very well!

After the first round was held at Wingate, the second round was in Albany, Georgia. Even though we could only take eight girls to support our Bulldogs, the trip to and from was hilarious. From pit stops and getting confused reading maps to going to the mall after the game and the super wet field...the trip for the play-off game was so memorable. The entire experience will be something I will never forget!

Fundraisers and volunteer work always is fun with all of our girls. My favorite this past year was the car wash we had. It turned out to be a great success and tons of fun for us and the community as well! Not only were we able to raise money for more uniforms, but we also bonded as a team and had much fun.
