The Student-Athlete’s Role in Reporting Practice Hours/Countable Athletically Related Activity
As part of the Wingate University Office of Compliance’s procedures, coaches must maintain practice logs throughout the academic year for each individual student-athlete included on their roster. This is done using Google Docs. The Office of Compliance shares a practice logs folder with each head coach, any requested assistant coach and the appropriate Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative. Practice logs will be uploaded to this folder every Monday reporting the prior week’s (Monday to Sunday) countable athletically related activity. The Office of Compliance will review practice logs periodically and on occasion request that the SAAC representative approve their team’s practice log.
If a student-athlete has a concern regarding the hours of countable athletically related activity in which they are required to participate, that student-athlete is encouraged to speak with their team’s SAAC representative. If the student-athlete is not comfortable in speaking with their SAAC representative the student-athlete should contact an athletic administrator.
