Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University junior outfielder
Kasey Pendley (Marion, N.C.) has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District III softball team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A graduate of McDowell High School, Pendley earns Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career.
This year, NCAA Division II has its own Capital One Academic All-America® teams. In softball, District III includes schools from the South Atlantic Conference, the Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference. Pendley and her 12 District III teammates will advance to the national ballot.

Kasey has exemplified true commitment and is an outstanding team player. She is a wonderful young lady who has been an honor to coach. I am so happy to see her recognized for all of her hard work on and off the field. This is a great honor for her and for Wingate University Softball.”
Pendley hit .239 on the season, compiling 17 hits while scoring 11 runs. She scored two runs in Wingate’s win over Erskine. Pendley had three hits in four at bats against 17th-ranked Bloomsburg. She was two-for-three with a run scored against Anderson. Pendley went three-for-five with a double, RBI and three runs scored to help lead the Bulldogs to a doubleheader sweep over Tusculum.
A Health and Physical Education major, Pendley has a 3.697 GPA. A National Girls and Women in Sports Day honoree, Pendley is a two-time member of the Wingate President’s List and two-time member of the Dean’s List. She earned SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll honors in her first two years at Wingate, while also earning NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete accolades twice in her career.
Pendley is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and is also a Campus Outreach leader and member of the Student Bulldog Club. Pendley is a member of the Teacher Education Committee (TEC), which is an advisory committee designed to help both upcoming teachers and current teachers. The committee is built to enhance student learning as a part of the re-accreditation process. Students are picked from all the different education majors (to serve on this committee).
