Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University sophomore goalie Arion Pierre (Haymarket, Va.) is the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announce Monday. Pierre earns the honor for the fourth consecutive week and the seventh time in her career. "Arion continues to step up," Wingate head women's lacrosse coach Caline McHenry Olmsted says. "She makes big saves for us every game."
 
Pierre played the first half Saturday, allowing three goals and recording two saves as the Bulldogs earned a 21-8 South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse victory over the Newberry College from Graham Gill Field at the Irwin Belk Track Complex. On the SAC charts, Pierre leads the league in save percentage at 54.3. She is second in total goals against (84) and goals against average (8.05).
