Wingate, N.C.----Last weekend Hurricane Florence hit the Carolinas, causing major damage from floods and high winds to many areas throughout the state. One of the areas hit the hardest was UNC Pembroke and the surrounding area. The school is still closed and the Braves cancelled this weekend's football contest against Tusculum. Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne are teaming up at this Saturday's football game and everyone in the area or planning to attend has a chance to help out with the relief efforts. Wingate will be taking up collections and donations at the football stadium all day Saturday, from 1 p.m. 9 p.m., which includes the entirety of the football game, kicking off at 6 p.m. There will also be a drop-off location in Indian Trail on Monday.

- Most needed items include: non-perishable food, water, personal hygiene products, men's & women's packaged underwear, garbage and Ziploc bags, disinfecting wipes, cleaning supplies & laundry detergent

- All items and donations collected will be delivered to the Raynham Fire Department and the UNC Pembroke Athletic Department
- 
Brandon Hunt, graduate of Wingate University, equipment manager for Wingate Football and Army veteran will personally deliver all donations next week. He is a Pembroke native.
- The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears have also agreed to bring donations when they play the Bulldogs at Irwin Belk Stadium on Saturday night.
