Biography

Mark Clyburn was named to the USA Football Network’s pre-season All-America second team and the pre-season All-SAC first team this summer. He caught six passes for 38 yards in 2012, earning a spot on the All-SAC second team. Clyburn had four catches in Wingate’s season opener versus Saint Augustine’s (Sept. 1). Clyburn’s and his O-Line mates helped Wingate lead the SAC in passing offense (333.73 yards per game) as QB Robbie Nallenweg had a record-setting season. Two Bulldog running backs averaged four-plus yards per carry.
 
In 2011, Clyburn played in 10 of 11 games for the Bulldogs. He caught three passes for seven yards. Clyburn hauled in passes against UNC Pembroke, Mars Hill and North Greenville. Clyburn and the Wingate O-Line helped QB Cody Haffly lead the SAC in total offense (283.00 yards per game). In 2010, Clyburn had five catches for 50 yards as Wingate won the SAC crown and broke numerous school records. Clyburn caught a touchdown pass in the NCAA play-off game at Albany State.
 
Clyburn spent the 2009 season as a redshirt. A Forest Hills High product, Clyburn played tight end for head coach Johnny Lowery. He was also the center on the Rocky River (2A) Conference regular season champion basketball team. Clyburn served as team captain in both basketball and football during his days with the Yellow Jackets. An All-RRC selection in basketball and football, he also earned All-Union County football team honors from The Enquirer-Journal. He is the son of Mark Clyburn, Sr. and Janice Clyburn.
