Wingate University redshirt junior linebacker Jared Seate (Charlotte, N.C.) was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 19. Seate earns this distinction for the first time in his Bulldog career.
 
Seate had a huge game with a career-high 18 tackles as the Bulldogs rallied for a 29-26 overtime victory at UNC Pembroke Saturday. He had 11 solo stops and a forced fumble. Seate also shared a tackle for loss. The 18 tackles were the second-most by a SAC player this season
 
In 2010, Seate recorded 77 tackles and six tackles for loss. He had 34 solo tackles and 43 assists. Seate also forced two fumbles and collected two fumble recoveries while recording 1.5 sacks and two pass break-ups. He recorded 17 tackles against Lenoir-Rhyne and 10 stops against Carson-Newman. Wingate (9-3 overall) won the 2010 SAC regular season championship and qualified for the NCAA Division II play-offs for the first time in school history.
