Directions to the Wingate University Campus From I-77 (North or South) Take I-485 East (Exit 1) toward Matthews. At Matthews, take U.S. 74 East to Wingate (approximately 25 miles). The University entrance will on the left after the second stoplight.
From I-85 (North or South) In Charlotte, take the Brookshire Freeway (exit 36) to U.S. 74 East (Independence Boulevard). Take U.S. 74 East to Wingate (approximately 30 miles). The University entrance is on the left after the second stoplight.
From I-85 North in Concord Turn on U.S. 601 South (exit 58) to Monroe. Turn on to U.S. 74 East to Wingate (approximately 6 miles). The University entrance is on the left after the second stoplight.
From I-40 (East or West) Turn onto I-77 South at Statesville. Take I-77 South to I-485 East (Exit 1) to Matthews. In Matthews, turn onto US 74 East to Wingate (approximately 25 miles). The University entrance is on the left after the second stoplight.
From I-95 (North or South) Turn on to U.S. 74 West in Lumberton, N.C. Take U.S. 74 West to Wingate (approximately 75 miles). The University entrance is on the right.
From Charlotte Douglas International Airport Take the Billy Graham Parkway to I-77 South. Take I-77 South to I-485 East (approximately 3 miles). Turn on to I-485 to Matthews (Exit 1). In Matthews, turn on to U.S. 74 East to Wingate (approximately 25 miles). The University entrance is on the left after the second stoplight.
TEAM BUS/VAN PARKING
Football & Lacrosse
Visiting buses will be directed to the front of Irwin Belk Stadium Field House.
Basketball, Volleyball & Swimming
Teams may be dropped off and picked up in the Cuddy Arena parking lot where the buses will be directed to park. Overflow parking is available in the Batte Fine Arts Center parking lot.
Softball
There is parking available at the Wingate University softball stadium.
Tennis
Teams will also park in the Cuddy Arena parking lot next to the tennis courts.
Baseball
Buses will drop players off at top the hill behind home plate and park in the Cuddy Arena parking lot.
Soccer
Buses & Vans will park in the parking lot next to the soccer/lacrosse field.
Cross Country
Vans will park by the soccer and softball fields.
DIRECTIONS TO WINGATE UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC VENUES
Irwin Belk Stadium/Graham Gill Field/Irwin Belk Track
Turn in to the main entrance of campus. Turn right at the three-way stop. Turn left on Haskins (behind baseball stadium). Turn right on Camden Rd., stadium is on right.
Cuddy Arena
Turn in to the main entrance of campus. Turn right at three-way stop. Parking for Cuddy Arena will be in the parking lot located behind the building and below the tennis courts.
Soccer, Softball, Cross Country Course
Turn in to the main entrance of campus and take a right at the three-way stop. Go 3/4 of a mile and turn right. The soccer field is located straight ahead and the softball field is located directly to your left. The cross country teams will meet on the intramural field.
Ron Christopher Baseball Stadium & Tennis Facility
Turn in to the main entrance of campus and take a right at the three-way stop. Go 200 yards and take a left in to the east parking lot and the baseball field is straight ahead.

ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS
The Wingate University Athletic Communications Office is responsible for all media relations for the Wingate University Athletic Department and the 26 intercollegiate sport teams it sponsors.
Press Area: (Football and Basketball Only): Allocated space in the press areas of Irwin Belk Stadium (football) and Cuddy Arena (basketball), will be automatically reserved for coaches, film crew, radio network and the SID; however, a press pass will still be required to gain access to the press area. Press passes will be mailed prior to the event.
Sideline Passes: (Football Only): At the present time, Wingate University does not issue sideline passes. Campus safety will monitor the sidelines. Sideline personnel includes coaches, players not in uniform, managers, trainers, team physicians and photographers. Others will be asked to return to the stands. Direct all additional requests to Hugh Patton 704-233-8386.
Press Area Services: Game programs, statistics, (FB only - half, final, individual, defensive) and play-by-play will be provided. Food and drinks will also be available (Football Only).
Radio Broadcast: The visiting SID is asked to contact Hugh Patton regarding plans to broadcast at least two weeks in advance.
Film Crews/Video Arrangements: Visiting film crews are located in the following areas:
Football
Third floor of the press box, entrance through the stairwell in the second floor lobby.
Basketball & Volleyball
Cuddy Arena mezzanine.
Post-game Media Requests:
The Wingate University Athletic Communications Office will handle all post game media requests. The final result of athletic contests will be distributed to media outlets. Updated statistics will be provided to visiting sports information directors and coaches during halftime and a press release with final statistical summary will be sent as a part of the post-game report.
VISITING TEAM INFORMATION
Bus Parking
Football: Irwin Belk Stadium Field House parking lot
Basketball/Volleyball/Swimming/Tennis/Baseball: Cuddy Arena parking lot (Additional parking for events in Cuddy Arena is available in the Batte Fine Arts Center parking lot off Camden Road…see Wingate campus map).
Softball/Cross-Country/Soccer: Adjacent parking lot to all fields
Locker Rooms
Football/Lacrosse: Irwin Belk Stadium Field House
Basketball/Volleyball: Cuddy Arena, connected to gym
Swimming: Cuddy Arena, connected to pool
Soccer/Softball/Cross-Country: Training room located between facilities
Taping tables are located in the locker rooms as well as bio-hazardous waste and "sharps" containers.
Towels, Soap & Ice
Soap is provided; towels will need to be brought by the athlete
Injury ice and bags are provided by the trainers
Athletic Training
As a member of the South Atlantic Conference, Wingate University provides athletic training services consistent with league policy
Access to the Wingate Athletics training room in the three separate training rooms are available prior to the games
A certified trainer will be in attendance for all contests
Splints, crutches and other orthopedic equipment are available upon request
Treatment for visiting athletes should be arranged in advance. Standard modalities are available for use. If a certified athletic trainer is not traveling with the visiting team, a letter of authorization for treatment signed by a certified athletic trainer or physician must accompany the student trainer or coach
If your team is traveling without an athletic trainer, please contact us in advance so that we can assign one to handle your team needs.
The following information includes items that will be provided by the Wingate University Athletic Department.
FOOTBALL
1. Visiting teams will dress in the designated visitor team locker rooms at the Irwin Belk Field House.
2. Two taping tables will be available for you in your dressing room; however, we suggest you do the majority of your taping before arriving at the stadium, as space is limited.
3. Approximately one hour before game time, the following will be available on you side line:
A. Two taping/treatment tables
B. Two 10-gallon coolers of water
C. 200 cups of water
D. Chest of ice for your use
E. Chest of bagged ice for injuries
F. Bio-hazardous waste containers and "sharps" container
4. An ambulance will arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to kick-off and will remain 5- 10 minutes after the conclusion of the contest.
5. An orthopedic physician will be available on the Wingate sideline.
6. The following orthopedic supplies will be available on the Wingate sideline:
A. Vacuum Splints
B. Crutches
C. Immobilizers
7. A Wingate student trainer will be on your sideline to assist you.
ALL OTHER SPORTS
Soccer, Lacrosse and Cross Country teams will have access to the locker room located by their designated fields. Volleyball, Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball will go to the locker rooms in Cuddy Arena. Swimming will go to the locker room in the Cannon Athletic Complex connected to the swimming pool. The services include:
1. The following items will be available on your bench:
A. A cooler of water and cups
B. Bio-hazardous waste container and "sharps" container
C. Injury ice and bags
2. A taping table will be available in your locker room. Athletes will be able to utilize the training room behind Cuddy Arena
