The 2012 SAC Player of the Year, Anna Hilton earned MVP honors at the 2012 Food Lion SAC Tournament, leading the Bulldogs to their seventh consecutive SAC Tournament title. Hilton has helped lead the Bulldogs on a 21-match winning streak heading into next week's NCAA Tournament. Wingate has earned a SAC-record eight consecutive NCAA Tournament bids.
Hilton averaged 2.9 kills and 5.6 digs per set in the three matches, hitting .311 for the tournament. She added six blocks and four aces. She started the tournament with 12 kills and 18 digs against Anderson, hitting .364. Hilton had eight kills and 12 digs in the sweep over Newberry, hitting .368. She played a key role in the Wingate defense holding Newberry to a hitting percentage of -.034. Hilton capped her week with 14 kills and a career-best 37 digs in the 3-2 win over Tusculum in the title match.
The 2011 honorable mention All-American ranks second in the league with a .318 hitting percentage, trailing teammate Lexi Potter (.327). Hilton is second on the team with 3.03 kills and 3.30 digs per set.
The Bulldogs will take on seventh-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast regionals next Thursday, Nov. 29. The winner will face the winner of the Flagler-Newberry match on Friday. The Bulldogs have played in the regional title match in each of the past three seasons.
