Wingate sophomore outfielder Thomas Spitz (West Chester, Pa.) had a big week to help the Bulldogs go 4-0 on the week, winning at Gardner-Webb Wednesday while sweeping their second straight SAC series at Anderson over the weekend. Wingate is in first place in the SAC standings, having won eight straight games overall and eight consecutive conference contests.
Spitz hit .412 on the week with a double, three triples, an inside-the-park homer, six RBI and five runs scored. He had a hit and run scored in the win at Gardner-Webb, drawing a pair of walks. Spitz had a big night in Friday's win at Anderson, going three-for-five with a triple, inside-the-park homer and three RBI. He added a double and two triples Saturday, driving in three runs while scoring twice.
Spitz is hitting .364 on the season with eight doubles, six triples and two homers. He has 20 RBI and 34 runs scored, ranking in the top 10 in the league in hits, batting average, runs, triples and total bases.
