Wingate redshirt sophomore quarterback Cody Haffly (Locust Grove, Ga.) completed 18-of-30 passes for 293 yards and a career-high five touchdown passes as Wingate topped Mars Hill 56-35 Saturday. With the victory, the Bulldogs (7-3 overall, 5-2 SAC) gain sole possession of second place in the league standings.

 

Haffly also rushed for one TD Saturday. Thanks to the efforts of Haffly and his teammates, the Bulldogs bolted to a 21-0 lead and never looked back. He eclipsed the 2000-yard mark Saturday, as he finished his first season as a starter with 2281 passing yards. In 10 games, Haffly completed 179-of-314 passes for 2281 yards and 21 touchdowns. He had only six interceptions this year.
