Wingate University freshman attack Austin Murphy (Orillia, Ontario) had five goals and three assists in Wingate’s 15-14 triple overtime victory against Mount Olive on Saturday. The Bulldogs trailed by eight goals in the third quarter Saturday afternoon, but outscored the Trojans 13-4 to end the game.
All five of Murphy’s goals came in the last 16 minutes of regulation. His first goal cut the deficit to 11-6, while his goal with 3:40 remaining in regulation tied it at 13. Murphy also assisted on a pair of third quarter goals.
Murphy leads the Bulldogs with seven goals and five assists this season. He had two goals and two assists in the season-opening victory against Young Harris. Wingate returns to action Wednesday, opening conference play at Coker at 3 p.m.Â
