Wingate University freshman Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) was named the SAC men's tennis Player of the Week on Monday. Kudrick earned the honor for the first time in his career. He became the third different Bulldog to earn POTW honors this season, joining freshman Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) and sophomore Sebastian Hall (Lörrach, Germany).
Kudrick went 3-0 in singles and doubles action last week, leading No. 42 Wingate to three conference victories. Kudrick opened his week against Newberry on Monday, winning 6-3, 6-2 at number four singles while teaming with senior Ryan Forbes (Charlotte, N.C.) for an 8-5 win at number two doubles, leading the Bulldogs to a 6-3 victory.
Kudrick won 6-1, 6-1 at number four singles against Queens, while he and Forbes won 8-6 at number two doubles in the 7-2 victory. Kudrick won 6-1, 6-2 Saturday against 36th-ranked Coker while teaming with Forbes for an 8-4 win at number two doubles, leading Wingate to the 5-4 victory.
Kudrick is 7-2 in singles play this season, including a 7-0 mark against Division II opponents. He has won seven consecutive matches, dropping only two sets in that span. Kudrick is 7-2 in doubles action this year, going 6-1 against Division II opponents.
