Wingate University redshirt senior setter Alison Cooke (Davidson, N.C.) was named the SAC Specialist of the Week on Tuesday, earning the honor for the sixth time in her career.
Cooke led the 10th-ranked Bulldogs to a perfect 3-0 week as the eight-time defending SAC champs picked up three sweeps to start conference play. The 2013 AVCA honorable mention All-American averaged 11.14 assists and 2.14 digs per set, adding four kills, two blocks and an ace.
Cooke had 25 assists in two sets of action against Catawba on Tuesday. She had 21 assists in two sets against Brevard Friday night. Cooke piled up 32 assists and 10 digs in the LRU sweep Saturday, adding a block and an ace.
A first team All-SAC and All-Region selection in 2013, Cooke leads the SAC with 10.45 assists per set. She runs a Wingate offense that leads the league in kills per set (14.4), assists per set (13.4) and hitting percentage (.289). The 'Dogs rank in the top 25 nationally in all three categories.
