Gui Peron led the Bulldogs to a big 3-0 week, earning SAC Player of the Week honors and NSCAA National Player of the Week accolades. He had three goals and an assist on the week as the Bulldogs pushed their winning streak to five. Wingate is 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the SAC, sitting alone atop the league standings and ranked 20th in the NSCAA top 25.
Peron started his week with a goal and an assist in the 2-1 victory over a Carson-Newman team that advanced to the NCAA Division II national title game in 2013. Peron scored late in the first half to tie the game at 1-1 heading to halftime. Early in overtime, Peron served a perfect cross to Charlie Machell (Newcastle, England) right in front of the net for the game winner.
Peron scored the lone goal Wednesday night in Wingate's 1-0 victory against sixth-ranked Limestone. The goal came on a free kick from 25 yards out. Peron lined it into the lower left corner to help the Bulldogs hand the Saints their first loss of the year. Peron capped his week with a goal Saturday as Wingate defeated SAC foe Mars Hill 4-0.
Peron has four goals and five assists on the season, ranking second in the SAC in assists and points, while ranking fifth in goals. The 2013 All-SAC and All-Region selection has 27 career goals.
