Wingate University senior All-American Jade Montgomery (Monroe, N.C.) was named the SAC Player of the Week and the Disney Socer/NSCAA Division II National Player of the Week for her efforts in Wingate's two wins last week.
Montgomery had five goals and an assist last week, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of SAC wins. The first-place Bulldogs have now won six straight matches, compiling a SAC record of 6-1 on the year. The Bulldogs have outscored opponents 27-1 during the winning streak. Wingate is 7-2-2 overall.
Montgomery notched her first hat trick of the year in the 5-0 win against Coker. She followed with two goals and an assist in the first half at Brevard Saturday in Wingate's 6-0 victory. The two-time SAC Female Athlete of the Year now has five career hat tricks and 16 career multi-goal games.
Montgomery continues to climb up the all-time SAC list. She now has 61 career goals, becoming only the sixth player in league history to score over 60 career goals. She is 10 goals shy of the all-time record. She also has 146 points in her career, ranking sixth on the league's all-time list.
Montgomery has scored in five straight games, compiling eight goals during the stretch. She is tied for the SAC lead with five assists, ranking second in the league with 25 points and third with 10 goals. She led the league in all three categories last year, while ranking in the top nationally in all three as well. Montgomery ranks 10th nationally in points per game and 13th in goals per game. She is the active career leader in all of NCAA Division II with 61 career goals.
