Reigning SAC Freshman of the Year Isiah Cureton (Waxhaw, N.C.) 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game during the opening weekend of the 2014-15 season, helping to lead the Bulldogs to wins over Limestone and Belmont Abbey. Cureton also had seven steals on the weekend.
Cureton started his season by scoring 15 points in the 59-55 win over Limestone, adding eight rebounds, two assists and two steals while shooting 50 percent from the field and knocking down a pair of shots from three-point range. Cureton had 14 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in the 66-50 win over Belmont Abbey Saturday.
Cureton leads Wingate and ranks 17th in the conference in scoring this season, while leading the league in steals and ranking third rebounding. Cureton plays a big role in the Bulldog defense that is allowing a league-low 52.5 points per game this year, holding opponents to 38 percent shooting while forcing a league-high 19 turnovers per contest.
