Wingate University graduate student forward Andrea Bertrand (Midlothian, Va.) led the Bulldog women’s basketball team to two victories last week. The South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week, Bertrand averaged 18 points per game and shot 58.8 percent from the floor in two SAC victories. Wingate has won nine games in a row overall and 11 consecutive SAC contests entering the last week in January.
Against Catawba Wednesday, she tallied 17 points on 71.4 percent shooting in a 62-47 triumph. Bertrand also posted four rebounds, one assist and three steals in the win. On Saturday at Brevard, Bertrand had 19 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in Wingate’s 71-60 victory over the home-standing Tornados. On the season, she is averaging 9.6 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game for the first-place Bulldogs (13-6 overall, 11-1 SAC).
