Wingate University freshman guard Zeriq Lolar (Orlando, Fla.) had a big week for the Bulldogs, leading third-place Wingate to a pair of two-point conference wins. Lolar averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, adding 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest. He went seven-of-14 from beyond the arc for the week, while playing over 34 minutes per game. The two wins helped the ‘Dogs remain in third place in the SAC, just one game behind second place Queens, who will be in Cuddy Arena Wednesday night.
Lolar started his week with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in Wingate’s 78-76 victory over Newberry, going five-for-eight from the field and four-for-six from three-point range. Lolar followed with a career-high 17 points in the 59-57 win at Anderson, adding five boards and three assists while playing 39 minutes without turning it over. He knocked down a three with 2:53 left to give Wingate a one-point lead. He added an offensive rebound and layup to put the ‘Dogs back on top at the 1:39 mark.
Lolar is fourth on the team with 7.2 points per game during his freshman season. He is second on the team with 28 triples, shooting 38.9 percent from beyond the arc. Lolar also averages 3.2 rebounds per game and is third on the team with eight blocked shots this year. Wingate is 6-1 this season when Lolar scores in double figures.
