Junior right-hander Tyler Brown (Suffolk, Va.) had two dominant outings for the Bulldogs, playing a huge role in two of Wingate's four wins last week. He piled up 11 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run on just three hits, holding opponents a .077 batting average while striking out six without walking a batter.
Brown entered Tuesday night's game against Concord in the top of the 10th inning. He would go on to work eight innings, throwing 89 pitches while allowing just two singles, striking out six without walking a batter, leading the 'Dogs to a 17-16 win in the longest game in SAC history. Brown was back in action on Saturday, entering Saturday's game against Mars Hill with one out in the fourth. He allowed just one single in his 3 2/3 innings of work, earning his second save of the year while once again not walking a batter.
Brown is 5-3 on the season, adding a pair of saves. He has a 3.40 ERA while leading the Bulldogs in wins, saves, appearances and innings pitched. He ranks second in the league in wins, fifth in saves and ninth in ERA.
