Wingate University junior middle blocker Abby Saehler (Iowa City, Iowa) was named the SAC volleyball Player of the Week on Tuesday. She earned the honor for the second time this season.
An AVCA third team All-American in 2014, Saehler was dominant in Wingate's two SAC road wins last week, piling up 4.67 kills per set while hitting .420. She collected 28 kills in just 50 swings, adding 3.83 digs and 1.00 blocks per set. Saehler registered a pair of double-doubles as Wingate wrapped up the first half of SAC play with a 10-1 record in the conference, tied atop the league standings.
Saehler started her week by hitting .500 at Newberry, notching 13 kills in 20 swings, adding 12 digs, four blocks and an ace. She piled up 15 kills in three sets at Anderson Saturday, hitting .367 with 11 digs, two blocks and an ace. Saehler ranks second in the SAC with 3.53 kills per set, while leading the league with a .316 hitting percentage and ranking fourth with 0.98 blocks per set. She is also collecting 2.08 digs per set on the year.
