Senior right-side hitter Shelly Stumpff (Iowa City, Iowa) was named the SAC Player of the Week on Tuesday after she led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week in SAC play. An All-SAC and All-Region selection last year, Stumpff had an incredible week for the Bulldogs, hitting .405 in 11 sets, piling up 49 kills against only four errors in 111 attacks, adding 2.55 digs per set with seven blocks and four aces.
Stumpff's week started with 12 kills and zero errors in 23 swings at Coker, hitting .522 with two aces, two digs and two blocks. She piled up career highs of 27 kills and 22 digs against Carson-Newman, with only three errors in 68 attacks, adding three blocks and an ace. Stumpff capped her week with 10 kills in 20 swings, hitting .450 in the sweep against LMU.
Stumpff leads the SAC in kills per set and aces per set, ranking seventh in the league in hitting percentage. She also ranks second on the team in digs per set.
