Wingate University senior Tyler Stone (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) led from wire-to-wire, earning medalist honors at the Lander University Bearcat Classic. Stone posted a 54-hole total of 212 to win the event by two strokes. The Bulldogs finished seventh in the 17-team field. The Greenwood Country Club (par 72, 6800 yards) was the site for the LU Bearcat Classic.
Stone posted a 72 Tuesday after rounds of 68 and 72 on Monday. The four-under-par 68 matched the best round of the two-day event. The medalist trophy is Stone’s second career award, as he earned a similar honor at the 15th annual Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate his junior year. Stone recognized the names at the top of the Bearcat Classic individual leader board, as four of the top five finishers hail from the South Atlantic Conference.
