Wingate University junior running back Lawrence Pittman (Charlotte, N.C.) earned SAC Offensive Player of the Week honors Monday, picking up the honor for the second straight week to start the year. The Mallard Creek High School product had a record-shattering afternoon Saturday, leading the 'Dogs to their second straight win to start the year.
 
Pittman posted a school record five rushing touchdowns with 20 carries for 137 yards as the Bulldogs posted a 56-7 home victory over the Shaw University Bears in NCAA Division II football action at Irwin Belk Stadium and John R. Martin Field Saturday. In two games, Pittman has 270 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He leads the SAC in both categories.
