Wingate University redshirt junior midfielder Callum Ross (Newcastle, England) earned SAC Player of the Week honors on Monday for the first time in his career. He had a goal in each of ninth-ranked Wingate's two victories last week as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten on the season with wins over Queens and Newberry.
Ross started his week by scoring the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory at Queens, leading the Bulldogs to a key SAC road win in a rematch of the 2015 SAC Tournament championship match. Ross added a goal in Saturday's 3-0 win over Newberry, giving the 'Dogs a two-goal lead by converting a penalty kick in the 15th minute.
An All-SAC selection in 2015 and preseason first team all-conference honoree this year, Ross is tied for the team lead with four goals, adding an assist to also lead the team with nine points. He finished fourth in the conference in points last year, while also ranking in the top 10 in the league in goals and assists. Ross ranks sixth in the SAC in goals this season, ranking eighth in points.
