Wingate University All-American goalkeeper Pablo Jara (Santiago, Chile) notched a pair of shutouts last week, leading the #1 Bulldogs to their first-ever NCAA Final Four.
Jara started his week by piling up seven saves against defending national champion Pfeiffer in Friday's NCAA regional semifinals. Jara and the Bulldogs shutout the nation's top-ranked offense for the first time in over two years, blanking a Falcon offense that averaged nearly five goals per game. Jara collected four more saves Sunday afternoon, leading the 'Dogs to a 1-0 victory against #14 Tampa in the NCAA National Quarterfinals.
The 2015 SAC Freshman of the Year and SAC Tournament MVP was a third team NSCAA All-American last season. A two-time first team All-SAC and All-Region selection, Jara leads the nation in goals-against average, ranking fifth in save percentage while piling up 10 shutouts on the season. Jara and the Wingate defense have not allowed multiple goals in any games this year.
