Wingate University track and field sophomore high jumper Isaiah Kyle (Morristown, Tenn.) started the 2017 outdoor track and field season by winning the men’s high jump on the first day of the Charlotte 49er Classic at the Irwin Belk Track Friday, March 17. The AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Athlete of the Week for field events, Kyle cleared 2.10 meters to claim the gold medal.
 
His effort gives the two-time Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year an NCAA Division II outdoor track and field provisional high jump qualifying mark and the top leap in the SAC so far this season. Kyle is a three-time All-American. He was the silver medalist in the 2017 NCAA Division II indoor national championship meet high jump competition.
