Wingate University junior Kimmi Moore (Hubert, N.C.) was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference women's soccer Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday.
Moore had a big week as the Bulldogs opened league play with a pair of home victories. The junior registered two goals and an assist as Wingate pushed its winning streak to three while starting the season 2-0 in league play.
Moore scored both goals in Wingate's 2-0 victory against Queens Wednesday night, netting a goal in each half of the conference opener. She set up the game's only goal Saturday afternoon, assisting on Colleen Zickert's (Arlington Heights, Ill.) second-half goal to give Wingate its third straight win. The midfielder also played a key role in the Bulldogs notching a pair of shutouts on the week.
Moore has two goals and two assists on the year, leading the Bulldogs in assists and points, while sharing the team lead in goals. She ranked in the top 10 in the SAC with eight goals last year. Moore has 15 goals and six assists in her three seasons at Wingate.
