Wingate junior Ashley Denton (Wendell, N.C.) finished fourth in the10th annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate women’s golf tournament at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation March 29-30, earning a spot on the all-tournament team. She shot 78 Tuesday and 81 Monday to complete her 36-hole home event at 159.

 

A two-time All-South Atlantic Conference performer, Denton leads the Bulldogs with her 79.3 strokes per round average. On the season, the 2008 SAC Freshman of the Year has one top five finish, four top 10 finishes and six top 20 showings. Denton and her Wingate teammates will participate in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament April 19-20 at the Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Lodge in Hendersonville, N.C. Denton won the 2008 Food Lion SAC event, posting rounds of 76, 78 and 77 to take home the tournament crown.
