Junior right-hander Marc Rape (Lancaster, S.C.) tossed a complete game shutout in Wingate’s 6-0 win over Carson-Newman. The win clinched the outright regular season SAC title for the Bulldogs.

 

Rape allowed only four hits on the afternoon, all of which were singles. He needed just 84 pitches to notch his second complete game shutout of the season. Rape had four strikeouts on the day, while inducing a pair of double plays.

 

Rape is 4-1 on the season, with all four victories coming in conference games. He is the only pitcher in the SAC with two complete game shutouts this year. Earlier this season, Rape tossed a three-hit shutout in Wingate’s 9-0 win at Brevard. He struck out seven in that performance, needing only 71 pitches.
