Wingate sophomore Rory Julyan (Cape Town, South Africa) played a big role as the Bulldog men won the Savannah College of Art and Design College Invitational Dec. 2-4. Julyan won five events (two individual, three relay) for the three-time defending Blue Grass Mountain Conference champion Bulldogs.

 

On Friday, Julyan touched first in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 21.03. He teamed with senior Dwight Richardson (Newport News, Va.), junior Lee Sousa (Cornelius, N.C.) and sophomore Spencer Waganaar (Satellite Beach, Fla.) to win the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:25.17.

 

On Saturday, Julyan sandwiched two relay victories around an individual triumph. Julyan, Waganaar, Sousa and Richardson started the day with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay (1:34.82). He paired with Sousa, Waganaar and freshman Tim Kniffler (Mulheim, Germany) to touch first in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:06.52. In between, Julyan won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 57.00.
