Gaffney, S.C.----The Wingate University men’s soccer team picked up a huge road victory Saturday, blanking Limestone College 2-0 at Saints Field. Limestone (2-1 overall) is the number 23 team in the NSCAA/adidas Division II poll. Year-in-and-year-out, Wingate (1-1 overall) is one of the top teams in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region. 

The visiting Bulldogs scored twice in the final 20 minutes of the match. ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® candidate Junior Nyemb (Douala, Cameroon) scored the match-winner in the 70th minute. The senior forward found the back of the nets from close range.

Wingate junior forward Jamie McKenna (Blackpool, England) concluded the scoring with a break-away goal in the waning moments. The Bulldogs outshot the Saints 15-13 Saturday.

Bulldog junior goalkeeper Joey Calandra (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) earned the shutout with six saves. Limestone junior netminder Mark Davidson (Middlesex, England) notched seven saves.

Wingate continues its road swing Monday, visiting Mount Olive College for a 7 p.m. contest. Limestone ventures to Lander University Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match.
