Greenwood, S.C.----The previously unbeaten Wingate University and Lander University women’s soccer teams battled through two overtimes before settling for a 0-0 tie Monday night in an NCAA Division II non-conference match at Bearcat Field.

The LU Bearcats (2-0-1 overall) keep their clean slate intact, as the hosts have not allowed a goal this season. Wingate moves to 3-0-1 overall. The Bulldogs had scored 18 goals in three previous matches.

The match was nearly as even statistically as the score. Wingate outshot Lander 11-10, while leading in corner kicks 10-7. Wingate tallied five shots on goal, while Lander had four.

Both goalkeepers added a shutout to their statistical ledgers. Bearcat goalkeeper Chelsea Beetch recorded five saves and Wingate freshman netminder Miriam Boucher (Calgary, Alberta) posted four.

Wingate continues its road swing Wednesday, visiting Queens University of Charlotte for a 7 p.m. contest. Lander will next open the Peach Belt Conference portion of its schedule at 3 p.m., Saturday, traveling to Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga.
