Raleigh, N.C.----The 16th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs picked up two more victories Saturday afternoon, defeating Shaw University and Fayetteville State University in NCAA Division II volleyball action. Wingate defeated Fayetteville State 25-20, 25-16 and 25-23, while topping Shaw 25-9, 25-8 and 25-6 to improve to 15-0 on the season. The Bulldogs have now won 38 consecutive regular season matches.
In the opening match against FSU, junior
Grace Krauser (Louisville, Ky.) had 16 kills in her first contest as an outside hitter. Sophomore outside hitter
Cory McGowan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 12 kills and a .647 hitting percentage. Senior setter
Liz Willis (Raleigh, N.C.) handed out 33 assists, while senior libero
Maggie Malone (Chicago, Ill.) had 14 digs. Wingate hit .279 for the match, while FSU hit .136.
The ‘Dogs hit .444 in the match against Shaw, while holding the Bears to -.178. Senior outside hitter
Janice Ehorn (Orange, Conn.) had 10 kills with a .562 hitting percentage to lead the Wingate attack. Freshman middle blocker
Jenna Flanigin (Aldie, Va.) added six kills in nine swings for a .667 hitting percentage.
