Brevard, N.C.----The Wingate women’s basketball team will take to the road riding a three-game winning streak Saturday as they travel to Brevard College for a 2 p.m. match-up with the Tornados. Wingate enters the contest 10-5 overall record and 4-3 in the SAC, one game out of first place. Brevard is 5-10 overall and 0-7 in the SAC.
The Bulldogs have never lost to the Tornados, with their smallest margin of victory coming 57-56 on Feb. 13, 2010 in Boshamer Gymnasium on the BC campus. The Bulldogs have won by an average of 3.5 points in the four games in Henderson County, N.C.

Janitsha Williams (Statesville, N.C.) led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Williams also shot six-for-eight from the free throw line. Sophomore
Nikki Burton (Charlotte, N.C.) and junior
Tish Logan (Suitland, Md.) pulled down eight rebounds each for the Bulldogs. The Wingate bench contributed 29 points, with Williams and Burton (12) leading the way. The Bulldogs converted 20 Newberry turnovers into 19 points.
Wingate is led by Burton with her 14.6 points per game. Senior
Kurie Washington (Marion, N.C.) averages 11.5 points per game; Williams adds 11.1 points per game. Burton also leads the team in steals (52), blocks (19) and assists (35). Senior
Tiffany Brown (Cartersville, Ga.) has converted 16 of 18 free throws for a team-leading .889 percentage. Senior
Simone Rutledge (Atlanta, Ga.) leads the Bulldogs with 105 rebounds.
Brevard was unable to close the door on Lincoln Memorial at home Wednesday, falling 76-68. The Tornados led by 17 with 10:19 to go in the first half and had an eight- point lead at halftime, but the Railsplitters took the lead for good with 6:56 to play. Senior

Holli Flippo contributed 18 points in the losing effort.

Anna Schlobohm is six points shy of becoming a member of Brevard’s 1000-point club. The Tornados are on a 15-game SAC losing streak, with their last league triumph coming with a 67-63 home victory over Anderson (S.C.) on Jan. 29 2011.
