Box Score Anderson, S.C.----The eighth-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs dropped their second consecutive match Saturday, falling 1-0 at Anderson University in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer action. The Trojans improve to 3-8-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the SAC. The Bulldogs are 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the SAC.

The lone goal of the match came in the 30th minute (29:34), when sophomore midfielder Martin Brain (Beckley, East Sussex, England) scored on a penalty kick for the Trojans. Brain has four goals this season.

Anderson held a decisive 7-1 advantage in shots in the opening half, while the Trojans had the only shot on goal. Wingate outshot Anderson 4-3 in the second half, holding a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The Trojans held an 11-4 advantage in shots on the afternoon, with each team taking two shots on goal. Anderson had four corner kicks on the day, compared to Wingate’s three. Wingate senior forward Gui Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil) had a team-high two shots on the afternoon, including one shot on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Lukas Hesse (Berlin, Germany) had two saves to preserve the shutout for the Trojans. Sophomore goalkeeper Stephen Harris (Lincolnton, N.C.) played the second half for the Bulldogs, notching a save without allowing a goal.

The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday, hosting non-conference foe Belmont Abbey at 7 p.m. Anderson steps out of the SAC fray Monday, hosting Flagler (Fla.) at 1 p.m.
