Box Score Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University and Tusculum College men’s soccer teams played to a scoreless 0-0 tie Saturday night at the WU Soccer Complex. The Bulldogs and the Pioneers battled for 110 minutes, but neither team could find the back of the nets.
Entering Saturday, Wingate was the only SAC team without a tie. The host Bulldogs are 10-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the SAC. Tusculum is 7-7-3 overall and 3-4-2 in the SAC. Wingate will host Anderson (S.C.) in a Food Lion SAC tournament first round contest Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Tusculum will hit the road Tuesday, visiting top seed Mars Hill for its first round encounter.
“This was a tough game for us,” Wingate head coach
Gary Hamill says. “I thought we didn’t get any momentum in the final third. Overall, it has been a very successful regular season. We are looking forward to the tournament.”

Victor Ohlin (Angelholm, Sweden). Wingate freshman midfielder
John Currie (Enniskillen, Ireland) missed a shot wide in the first overtime.

Daniel DeGraff (Statesville, N.C.) earned his second career shutout in as many nights. DeGraff posted four saves. Ohlin had seven saves. Both keepers played 110 minutes each. Despite the huge shot deficit, Tusculum held an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.
The Bulldog family honored three seniors in pre-game ceremonies. In addition to Lima, Wingate recognized midfielder
Joshua Jokic (Brisbane, Australia) and defender
Corey McCollom (Monroe, N.C.). Lima and McCollom were both key contributors to Wingate’s 2010 SAC championship and NCAA play-off team.
