Two plays later, Brevard got on the scoreboard when junior slot Andre Overholt (Tryon, N.C.) scored on a 79-yard run. Senior Ben Noboa (Deltona, Fla.) added the PAT to cut the Tornado deficit to 21-7 at the 8:19 mark of the second stanza.

Bulldog redshirt junior wide receiver Patrick Derenda (Manassas, Va.) scored the first of his two touchdowns with 39 seconds to play in the second quarter. Nallenweg found Derenda with a seven-yard TD pass to conclude a seven-play, 38-yard drive. Smith's extra point concluded the first half scoring and gave the hosts a 28-7 lead at intermission.

Wingate scored 15 points in the third quarter to take a 43-14 advantage. Smith nailed a 31-yard field goal (10:29), while junior running back Josh Covington (Charlotte, N.C.) and Derenda posted touchdowns. Covington scored on a one-yard run (2:19), while Derenda and Nallenweg made a five-yard pass play connection (1:39).

The two teams combined for four turnovers. Wingate scored touchdowns following each of Brevard's two fumbles, while the Tornados turned two interceptions into two touchdowns. The Bulldogs won the time of possession battle (31:56-28:04), posting 454 yard total offense compared to Brevard's 250.
