Harrogate, Tenn.----The Wingate University Bulldogs scored three goals in the first in the first 18 minutes of action Saturday afternoon, wrapping up their regular season with a 3-1 victory at Lincoln Memorial University in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action. The Bulldogs improve to 12-2-3 overall and 8-2-1 in the SAC. LMU falls to 8-7-1 overall and 6-5 in the conference.
With the victory, Wingate finishes the regular season in second place in the SAC standings. The Bulldogs will be the number two seed in next week's Food Lion SAC Tournament, which begins Tuesday. Wingate will host the quarterfinal contest. The Bulldogs have gone 31-5-2 in SAC play over the last four seasons. Wingate has played in the SAC Tournament championship game each of last three years, winning the first SAC Tournament title in program history in 2011.

Brooke Howell (Charlotte, N.C.) scored the opening goal 46 seconds into the contest, netting her seventh goal of the season. Junior forward
Jade Montgomery (Monroe, N.C.) notched her league-best ninth assist of the season.
Senior midfielder
Katie Simpson Eiss (Indian Trail, N.C.) gave Wingate a 2-0 lead 8:18 into the opening half, finding the back of the net for the first time this season.
Michelle Allen got LMU on the board five minutes later, cutting the Wingate lead in half. The Bulldogs had the answer, with Simpson Eiss netting her second goal of the season 17:34 into the contest to make it 3-1.
Wingate out-shot Lincoln Memorial 21-16 on the day, holding an 11-6 edge in shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper
Ashlyn Hardie (Summerfield, N.C.) had five saves for the Bulldogs.
Kayla Stephens registered eight saves for LMU.
The Bulldogs will learn their opening round opponent in the SAC Tournament later Saturday night.
