Shelby Tricoli (Waynesville, N.C.) posted Bulldog career-highs of 22 and 18 points, respectively, leading Wingate University to a 89-69 South Atlantic Conference women's basketball victory over Tusculum College Saturday in Pioneer Arena. Harris and Tricoli led four Wingate players in double digits.
With the victory, Wingate improves to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the SAC. Tusculum slips to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the SAC. The Bulldogs host Lenoir-Rhyne Tuesday at 4 p.m. (please note new starting time). The TC Pioneers entertain Brevard Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Amber Neely (Charlotte, N.C.) notched 13 points, while senior guard
Janitsha Williams (Statesville, N.C.) contributed 12 points to complete the Bulldog double-figure scoring quartet.
Nequoiah Anderson led the host Pioneers with 20 points.
Jessica Hairston added 12 points for Tusculum.
A Harris hoop put Wingate up 5-4 with 17:55 remaining in the first frame. The Bulldogs never trailed again. A jumper by sophomore forward
Morgan McGee (Durham, N.C.) gave Wingate a 21-9 advantage at the 10:27 mark. The 12-point bulge was the Bulldogs' largest lead of the first half.
Wingate led 45-36 at intermission, thanks to 12 points from Tricoli and nine points each from Harris and Neely. Anderson led the Pioneers with 13 first-half markers. Tusculum hit 48 percent of its first-half field goals, but the hosts committed 13 turnovers in the first 20 minutes.
Tusculum would get no closer than seven points in the second half. Wingate took a 68-50 lead on a Neely bucket with 11:20 remaining. The Pioneers made only two field goals in the six-plus minutes, erasing any chance of a comeback. Tusculum hit only 27.3 percent from the floor after intermission (nine-of-33).
Harris posted her second double-double in as many games, leading Wingate's rebounding efforts with 11 boards. Junior forward
Brooklyn Boston (Lenoir, N.C.) pulled down 10 caroms as the Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 50-39. Hairston had 10 rebounds to top the TC charts.
