Wingate, N.C.----The three-time defending Food Lion SAC Tournament champion Anderson University Trojans knocked off second-seeded Wingate University 1-0 Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference men's soccer tournament. Anderson improves to 11-5-3 overall, advancing to Friday's SAC Tournament semifinals. No. 21 Wingate falls to 11-5-1 overall.
The Trojans eliminate the Bulldogs for the third consecutive year. Anderson is still yet to lose a match in the SAC Tournament since joining the league in 2010. The Trojans will face the winner of the Mars Hill vs. Lincoln Memorial match Friday at 4 p.m. in Rock Hill, S.C. Wingate, who was ranked fifth in the NCAA Southeast regional poll last week, will learn its postseason fate when the NCAA tournament bracket is released next week.
