Greeneville, Tenn.----Wingate University senior midfielder Pedro Figuiera (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored the game's only goal Sunday afternoon, leading the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory at Tusculum College in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action. Wingate improves to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the SAC. Tusculum falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Figuiera's goal came 27:28 into the opening half. Freshman defender Alex Nelson (Newcastle, England) served a cross to the far post and Figuiera headed it home, netting his second goal of the season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Wingate out-shot Tusculum 10-7 on the day, with each team registering two shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Sanjit Kang (Mississauga, Canada) had a pair of saves to preserve the shutout for the Bulldogs. Victor Ohlin had one save for the Pioneers.

The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday, traveling to Belmont Abbey at 4 p.m. Tusculum hosts Milligan Wednesday at 6 p.m.
