Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University women's basketball team looks to stay on track Saturday, hosting Mars Hill University for a 2 p.m. South Atlantic Conference contest in Cuddy Arena and Thomas Koontz Family Court. On Wednesday, Wingate (14-6 overall, 12-1 SAC) led wire-to-wire and placed four players in double figures en route to a 71-44 SAC triumph over Coker in the DeLoach Center. Wingate has won 10 consecutive games overall and 12 straight league contests. Mars Hill is 7-11 overall and 5-8 in the SAC entering Saturday's contest.

The Bulldogs will look to sweep the season series, as Wingate defeated Mars Hill 74-63 Saturday, Dec. 6 at Stanford Arena on the MHU campus. Bulldog graduate student forward Andrea Bertrand (Midlothian, Va.) scored a Bulldog career-high 24 points on 10-of-15 field goal shooting. Wingate never trailed in the contest.

Wingate sophomore guard Shelby Tricoli (Waynesville, N.C.) added 11 points, while graduate student forward Chantal Dunbar (Virginia Beach, Va.) contributed a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Entering the Mars Hill contest, Dunbar has 20 career double-doubles and 27 career double-figure rebounding games.

For Mars Hill, junior guard Camille Glymph (Greenville, S.C.) and sophomore guard Paige Chavis (Lexington, N.C.) had 17 and 16 points, respectively, in the December contest. The backcourt tandem combined to take 37 shots. Their seven teammates hoisted 22 shots.

"Mars Hill presents a really big challenge for us," Wingate head coach Ann Hancock says. "They have the leading scorer in the SAC in Camille Glymph…but they are not a one-dimensional team. Glymph is difficult to defend and they have a good inside/outside combination as well. We know they will be fired up to play Saturday."

Wingate has won eight consecutive games against Mars Hill. The Lions' last victory over the Bulldogs was an 83-69 home triumph on Jan. 15, 2011. Mars Hill's most recent victory at Wingate was a 101-100 overtime decision on Feb. 17, 2010. In the 2010 OT game, Mars Hill guard Brittini Young ('11, Ramseur, N.C.) poured in a career-high 37 points, while Wingate guard Kurie Washington ('12, Marion, N.C.) had a career-high 32 points for the Bulldogs.

Dunbar is averaging 13.1 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game (both team highs) during Wingate's 10-game winning streak. The pre-season All-SAC choice is Wingate's overall scoring and rebounding leader, as she enters the Mars Hill contest averaging 11.3 points per game and a SAC-best 9.9 rebounds per game. In the 2012-13 campaign (her last full season), Dunbar averaged a double-double with 11.3 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game.

Wingate has three players in double-figure points with another person knocking on the door. Bulldog junior forward Morgan McGee (Durham, N.C.) is second to Dunbar with her 11.0 points per game. Tricoli is next with 10.1 points per game, while Bertrand is next with 9.8 points per game. Bertrand is second on the team's rebounding charts with her 5.2 rebounds per game.

Glymph leads the Lions (and the league) with her 22.1 points per game. Chavis is next with 13.6 points per game, while junior forward Kelsey Espinosa (Austin, Texas) contributes 10.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. MHU redshirt sophomore guard Genice Lane (Winston-Salem, N.C.) is the team's top rebounder with her 8.1 caroms per contest.

Wingate is allowing only 60.4 points per game, second on the league charts to Newberry (57.7). Mars Hill allows 73.1 points per game, while scoring 70.1 points per game on the offensive end. Wingate scores 67.2 points per game, seventh on the SAC team scoring charts. The MHU Lions lead the SAC with their 76.9 percent free throw shooting accuracy. Wingate redshirt senior point guard Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va.) tops the league charts with her 2.0 assist/turnover ratio. Hill leads the Bulldogs with her 87 assists.

The Bulldogs host Newberry Wednesday night (6 p.m.) to conclude a two-game home stand. The Mars Hill contest starts a five-home-games-in-six-dates home stretch for first-place Wingate. The MHU Lions continue their road swing Wednesday, visiting local rival Brevard for a 6 p.m. contest.
