Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University men's swimming team earned a 181-134 triumph over NCAA Division I Gardner-Webb University Friday and Saturday. The Saturday element of the competition was held at the Bost Pool in Boiling Springs, while the Friday portion of the meet was contested at the Wingate Natatorium (

Senior
Ossian Arvidsson (Kungälv, Sweden) won two individual events for the visiting Bulldogs. Arvidsson won the 500 Freestyle (4:40.73) and the 400 Individual Medley (4:07.39). In the 400 IM, Wingate claimed the gold, the silver and the bronze, as junior
Øystein Fjeldberg (Oslo, Norway) and freshman
Camden Wunderlich (Snohomish, Wash.) were second and third, respectively.

Senior
Roman Kanyuka (Moscow, Russia) claimed a relay victory and an individual triumph Saturday. He swam the second leg as Wingate won the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:26.30. Later in the day, Kanyuka touched first in the 200 Breaststroke with his triumphant time of 2:07.09. WU senior
Damjan Petrovski (Skopje, Macedonia) was second in the same event with his time of 2:07.93.

Wingate protected its home turf by winning five events Friday night. Bulldog sophomore
Jerome Heidrich (Hamburg, Germany) claimed an individual gold medal in the 200 Freestyle (1:41.07) and swam the first leg on Wingate's triumphant 400 Freestyle Relay quartet (3:04.55)

Bulldog freshman
Nathan Kimbel (Yorktown, Va.) won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 58.72. Kimbel edged Petrovski by one/tenth of a second (58.72-58.82). Petrovski earned two silver medals Friday, as he swam the second leg on Wingate's second-place 200 Medley Relay team (1:33.34).

Fjeldberg won the 200 Butterfly with his time of 1:56.37. Arvidsson led a 1-2-3 Bulldog charge when he touched first in the 200 Individual Medley (1:55.42). WU junior
Leif-Henning Klüver (Risum-Lindholm, Germany) and Kimbel were second (1:55.75) and third (1:55.93), respectively, in the same event.

Wingate will take a competitive break for the Thanksgiving holidays. The Bulldogs will host the Wingate University Fall Frenzy Dec. 4-6 in Rock Hill, S.C. The
Rock Hill Aquatics Center is the site for this year's event.
