Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University women's swimming team led wire-to-wire, collecting a 174-133 victory over NCAA Division I Gardner-Webb University Friday and Saturday. The Saturday portion of the meet was contested at the Wingate Natatorium, while the Friday segment was held at the Bost Pool in Boiling Springs (
Saturday results).

Vika Arkhipova (Seversk, Russia) had a hand in two of the new pool records.
In Wingate's triumphant 400 Medley Relay swim to open Saturday's competition, Arkhipova set a new pool record in the 100 Backstroke. Later in the day, Arkhipova won the 200 Backstroke with a new pool record time of 2:02.71.

Sofia Petrenko (Arkhangelsk, Russia) posted a new pool record in the 500 Freestyle when she touched first with her time of 5:05.67. Wingate junior

Leigh-Ann Clark (Newport News, Va.) joined Arkhipova on the 400 Medley Relay quarter.

London Schumacher (Waynesville, N.C.) set the fifth pool record Saturday, as she won the 400 Individual Medley with her triumphant time of 4:26.92. All total, Wingate won five events Saturday. In addition to the conquests listed above, Bulldog senior team captain
Ana Fish (Carthage, N.C.) won the 100 Freestyle with a time of 53.16.
Friday recap (at Boiling Springs, N.C.) The visiting Bulldogs won six of nine events on GWU's turf. Wingate started and finished strong by taking the checkered flag in both relays. The Bulldogs posted a 200 Medley Relay victory with a time of 1:46.47. Wingate won the Friday-concluding 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:33.27. Fish was the common denominator, as she swam the anchor leg in the 200 Medley Relay and the second stanza of the 400 Free Relay.
Fish had a busy Friday, as she won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.43. Petrenko (Arkhangelsk, Russia) won two individual events and joined Fish on the 400 Free Relay quartet. Petrenko touched first in the 200 Freestyle (1:53.80) and the 200 Butterfly (2:05.72). In the 200 Free, Wingate claimed first, second and third.
Arkhipova led a 1-2-3-4 Wingate charge in the 100 Backstroke, as she won the gold medal with a time of 57.08. Arkhipova swam with Petrenko, Fish and Clark on Wingate's 400 Freestyle Relay team.
Wingate will take a competitive break for the Thanksgiving holidays. The Bulldogs will host the Wingate University Fall Frenzy Dec. 4-6 in Rock Hill, S.C. The
Rock Hill Aquatics Center is the site for this year's event.
