Wingate will honor six seniors following SAC home contest versus Brevard Saturday

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University women's basketball team (20-8 overall, 18-3 SAC) will celebrate the contributions of six seniors Saturday, as the Bulldogs entertain Brevard College for a 2 p.m. South Atlantic Conference contest in Cuddy Arena and Thomas Koontz Family Court. Wingate has won 16 of its last 18 contests; the Bulldogs have secured the number two seed for the upcoming SAC tournament March 4, 7 and 8.
 
On Wednesday, the Bulldogs claimed a 68-60 road triumph over Newberry. WU graduate student forward Chantal Dunbar (Virginia Beach, Va.) posted her 24th career double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds for the victors. Bulldog redshirt senior point guard Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va.) added a WU career-high 13 points. Wingate junior forward Morgan McGee (Durham, N.C.) had 11 points off the Bulldog bench. With the victory, Wingate records its 23rd 20-win season in the school's senior college history.
 
Wingate will honor six fourth-year players following Saturday's SAC regular season finale with Brevard. In addition to Dunbar and Hill, the Bulldogs will recognize seniors Kelli Bonner (Yadkinville, N.C.), Brooklyn Boston (Lenoir, N.C.) and Jasmine DeBerry (Charlotte, N.C.) and graduate student Andrea Bertrand (Midlothian, Va.).
 
On Saturday, Jan. 24, Hill established season-highs in points and rebounds and hit a huge second half three-point field goal to boost the Bulldogs to a 71-60 victory at Brevard. Hill had 10 points, eight rebounds, four steals, two assists and no turnovers in a team-best 38 minutes of action. Bertrand had 19 points, sophomore guard Shelby Tricoli (Waynesville, N.C.) had 13 points and Dunbar had 11 points and eight boards.
 
For Brevard, junior guard Katie Williams (Robbinsville, N.C.) had 16 points. Sophomore guard Madison Lenox (Raleigh, N.C.) and sophomore forward Lynsey Crisp (Robbinsville, N.C.) tallied 12 points each for the home-standing Tornados. Lenox hit a game-high four three-point field goals in eight tries.
 
Dunbar leads the Bulldogs in scoring (11.7 points per game) and rebounding (10.0 rebounds per game). She tops the SAC charts in rebounding. In Wingate's last three games, Dunbar is averaging 13.7 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game. She has 10 of her 24 career double-doubles this season.
 
Hill leads the SAC in steals (3.0 steals per game) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.36). Wingate's defense leads the SAC in steals (9.6 steals per game) and three-point field goal percentage defense (27.2 percent). On the offensive end of the floor, Wingate is number in the SAC in three-point field goal percentage (37.0 percent).
 
Tricoli is second on the SAC three-point field goal percentage list with her 47.3 percent accuracy. She has hit 52 triples in 110 tries this season. Bonner leads the Bulldogs with her 60 three-point field goals. As a team, Wingate has converted 131 three-point field goals this season.
 
Brevard is second in the SAC with 173 three-point field goals made this season. Only Coker (180) has hit more triples this year. Williams leads the Tornados with her 16.8 points per game average. She is third in the SAC in scoring. Sophomore guard Madison Lenox (Raleigh, N.C.) averages 15.4 points per game, placing her fifth in the SAC scoring rankings.
