Anderson, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs dropped a pair of tough one-run games at defending SAC champion Anderson University Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference softball action. The Trojans won the first game 3-2, while prevailing 6-5 in eight innings in game two. Anderson improves to 25-7 overall and 8-2 in the SAC, while Wingate falls to 17-13 overall and 6-4 in the conference. Senior shortstop
Alexis Burrell (Chesapeake, Va.) hit a pair of homers, giving her 31 for her career, the all-time record in Wingate softball.

Jessica Neidigh was one-for-four with an RBI for the Trojans.
Burrell went two-for-two with a homer to lead the Wingate offense. Sophomore infielder
Katie McLaurin (Laurinburg, N.C.) added a pair of doubles for the Bulldogs.
Wingate got on the board in the fourth when Burrell connected on her ninth homer of the year, a solo shot to right to make it 1-0.
Anderson tied it in the fifth when Child connected on a solo shot to center. The Trojans scored twice in the sixth to take the lead. The first run scored on an error, while Neidigh's RBI single made it 3-1.
A single, error and walk loaded the bases for the Bulldogs in the seventh. A wild pitch made it 3-2, but Anderson starter
Lauren Rudesheim got a strikeout to end the game.
Rudesheim got the win, moving to 9-4. She allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking five. Junior right-hander
Stacey Houser (Mooresville, N.C.) took the loss, falling to 11-9. She allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings, striking out three and walking four.
Game Two: Anderson 6, Wingate 5 (8 innings)Cailah Niles went two-for-four with three RBI to lead the Anderson offense in game two. Child added an RBI and a run scored, while Neidigh was three-for-four with an RBI and two runs scored for the Trojans.
Courtney Czentnar was two-for-four with an RBI.
Burrell had a homer and two RBI to lead the Wingate attack. Junior infielder
Mellena Helms (Concord, N.C.) was two-for-five with an RBI, while freshman outfielder
Morgan Hendrix (Mocksville, N.C.) scored a pair of runs.
RBI singles from Niles and Czentnar gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead in the first. Wingate cut the lead in half in the third. Helms started the inning with a double, while a wild pitch allowed the Bulldog run to score, making it 2-1.
The 'Dogs tied the game in the fifth. Hendrix started things with a one-out double, then scored when Burrell reached on an error to make it 2-2.
Anderson regained the lead in the sixth on a two-run single from Niles, making it 4-2.
The Bulldogs had the answer in the seventh. After a single from junior catcher
Taylor Laskey (Cherryville, N.C.), Burrell broke Wingate's all-time home run record with a two-run shot to right, tying the game at four.
Wingate took a 5-4 lead in the eighth on an RBI single from Helms. The Trojans had the answer in the bottom of the frame. A sacrifice fly from Neidigh tied the game, while Child's RBI single gave the Trojans the 6-5 win.
Chelsea Jones got the win, moving to 9-2. She allowed five runs on nine hits in eight innings, striking out seven and walking three. Sophomore right-hander
Misty Doran (Century, Fla.) took the loss. She allowed two earned runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out two and walking two to fall to 3-2.
Wingate is back in action Tuesday, traveling to Newberry for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
