Wingate Cheerleading tryouts are slated for April 15-17

Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University's Bulldog Cheerleading squad will hold its annual open tryouts the weekend of April 15-17, 2016 in Cuddy Arena for the 2016-17 season (prospect camp; tryout information; WU Cheer page).
 
Tryouts are open to all current Wingate University students in good academic standing, as well as incoming freshmen and transfer students. Both men and women are encouraged to tryout for positions on the squad. Participants must show proof of insurance and acceptance to Wingate University in order to tryout.
 
Tryout information and required forms are available at the links above. Registration will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, April 15; tryouts will follow. Forms should be completed before attending tryouts.
 
The tryout will include sessions on Friday evening until 9 p.m., Saturday morning and afternoon and Sunday. There is a break for lunch on Saturday. The 2016-17 tryouts will include all components of cheerleading, such as tumbling, group and partner stunting, cheer, a timed mile run and interview process with the coaching staff.
 
A Prospect Camp will be held on Saturday, April 2 to allow interested participants to workout with the coaching staff in preparation for the tryout sessions. The camp is not required in order to tryout or be considered; however, WU head cheerleading coach Kelly Sheppard encourages potential Bulldog cheerleaders to take advantage of the opportunity. Under the direction of head coach Kelly Sheppard, the two primary objectives of the Wingate cheerleaders are to help promote school spirit and add to the game day experience and to be the best in the South Atlantic Conference. The 2016-17 Wingate Cheerleaders season will start with two required summer practice sessions, announced the Sunday of tryouts. They will cheer at all home and away Wingate football games, men and women's basketball games and SAC Basketball Championship games as well as compete nationally.
